Tuesday, April 11, 2006:JC vs POLY
read the new paper yesterday. saw the argument by a JC student and a poly undergrad/student. let me elaborate about what happened. it was all because of an online game called maple (omg! people quarrel because of such a game????) and this jc guy was very pissed at people ks-ing in the game who he pointed out are the poly people. and he started blasting that jc students are superior than poly people. and given the chance jc students ll do better than poly students in the poly education. plus, the best part was when he said that poly students cant even master simple stuff from secondary sch. in short, poly students are childish and stupid.

firstly, i am from jc but i totally dun agree wif him. i ll definitely not call my brother stupid juz because he is from poly. yes, i am better academically but i have to give it to him in terms of streetsmartness. dun generalise and make sweeping statements. not every poly student is weak academically and not every jc student is not street-smart.

from the comments that he gave, i can conclude that he comes from one of the top jcs in singapore because of the sentence structure of his comments and stuff. which irks me even more. juz because o levels is a piece of cake to him doesnt mean it is easy for other people. PEOPLE DO SLOG HARD FOR THE EXAMS TO GET INTO JCS.

the comments only show how shallow this guy is. cos there are many reasons for a student not to do well and NOT BECAUSE OF STUPIDITY. for one, there may be no motivation for them to study let alone to go to a jc. also, we cannot discredit all late bloomers. yes, o level subjects may be boring to these bunch of people and they find poly education more suitable for them, so be it! life is definitely not the end for these people juz because they cant get into jc.

the more i think about it the angrier i get. cos i juz cant stand such snobbish people who think they are the cream of the crops and useful to the society. every singaporean is juz like every grain of sand. we are interdependent and need to be be united. every contribution be it big or small is still a contribution to the society.

BUT THEN AGAIN hate it when poly students cry," f***ing A level students think so straight so not flexible" cos again it is a generalisation and yes all our brain cells are either, burnt, evaporated or squeezed due to the heavy mugging in jc. but that doesnt mean we are all rote-learners and not flexible.
