Thursday, November 09, 2006:volunteering
wahh.

i like the smirks given by the lecturers when they issue out problem sheets/coursework assignments/dates for tests. juz SO feel like slapping them. hhahaha. it is a never-ending cycle. just when i thought i have finished my problem sheets and the wonderul programming project, more sheets come in and a new programming project will be issued to me tomorrow at 3pm. haiz. so great! cant wait for term to end. hahaha.

anyway, today was the 1st time the 7 moe scholars from imperial went down to a primary school at battersea to help mentor/tutor. sacred heart primary is a catholic school. when we are just outside the school, some of the kids who were having breaks and playing saw us and started to make racist remarks. they were saying things like 'ching-ching-chong-chong' whatever that means.

i dunno about the rest but suddenly, it dawned onto me that i was bringing trouble to myself. i should not even bother to volunteer my wed afternoons for such stuff. i dunno how to handle the students or the racist remarks if any when i enter the class.

BUT all my worries were uncalled for. cos the class that we (me, kengseng, haojun, astee) went into, the students are all damn cute! and they were having an art class. seeing the children misbehaving, talking, listening to teacher, volunteering to do stuff is juz so nice. i was grinning from ear to ear for the whole session. i plopped myself down to this small group of 4 and help them with their art. martin was super shy and dunno wad to do. but when i asked him to cotribute, he juz did the work silently. the other1 nicholas was quite talkative and he asked me lots of questions and he said i LOOK LIKE 14! hahahha. jordan is art-inclined and took charge of the whole thing. this gal, katrina was so bubbly and cheerful. the kids just brightened up my day man.

i have to say that the teacher is SUPER PRO. she can control the class really well and the kids were quite scared of her. i think the 1st lesson with a new bunch of students either make or break it lo. i will try to be fierce on the 1st day of my teaching career. ahhahaha. but seriously, i can see the amount of energy being sapped out of the teacher lo. PRO! kowtow to her...
